Inclement Weather Information

In the event of inclement weather, Cherokee is dedicated to keeping all main roads clear for their visitors.
Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort will remain open.

Suggestions to consider when traveling into the Cherokee area during winter months:

  • If you are arriving from the Knoxville area and plan to use US 441 through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, please confirm road closures by calling (865) 436-1200.
  • If you are arriving via I-40 east or westbound, GPS will often route you through the town of Maggie Valley via US 19. Please be advised that this route has a significant increase in elevation that receives freezing precipitation when lower elevations are clear. It is advised that you travel via US 74 to the Great Smoky Mountain Expressway (US 441).
